Profile –
After completing his SSC from Patwardhan High School, Ratnagiri he completed four years Seaman course at Ratnagiri and appeared for the Ship Officer’s exam from Mumbai and then passed the Captain’s examination from England in 1962.
He has guided and trained Kokani Youth to become officers on ships. He was life member of MESCO and AWAM two Mumbai based social welfare organizations. Captain Modak used to run an orphanage in Nepal and Arabic school in Sharjah.
During the Gulf War he made arrangement for the safe passage to India for about 772 Indian refugees stranded in Gulf through his ship M.V Safeer.
