Maharashtra Urdu Shikshak Sanghatna, Dapoli, in association with National Institute of Landscape Engineering (NILE), Dapoli, and Muslim Welfare Society Bazarpeth, Dapoli, organized a Ghazal evening at Dapoli to honour the memories of one of the best poets of Urdu and Marathi languages from the Kokan – the Late Mr. Badiuzzaman Khawar
The Event, which started around 7 pm, was held at the Lokmanya Tilak Memorial, Dapoli, on 30th July 2011.

Born as Badiuzzaman Parkar, the late Mr. Khawar, initially wrote under the Pseudonym – Khawar, but later changed his family name Khawar, which his predecessors are carrying forward with utmost pride and respect.
At one of time in his life, he stopped writing Urdu Ghazals to devote his entire energies towards writing ghazals in his favourite – Marathi language. This is the reason why Mr. Khawar is revered alongside many of his famous Marathi contemporaries like Mr. Suresh Bhatt.
He brought a special Kokani flavour to ghazals, which inspired a new breed of Kokani ghazal writers, Mr. Chanrashekhar Sanekar being the frontrunner amongst them.
